On Saturday, October 12, 2024, a serious incident occurred in front of a Eurowings Europe Airbus A320 at Düsseldorf Airport. A tanker truck lost a large amount of fuel.

According to an eyewitness report, the vehicle hit a distance pole and tore open the tank. This resulted in the cargo, i.e. kerosene, leaking out. These documents are issued directly by Eurowings Europe for the Airbus A320 with registration 9H-EUO.

At the time of the accident, the passengers who wanted to fly to Salzburg were already on board the medium-haul jet. For security reasons they were forced to leave the 9H-EUO. The machine was initially not moved due to kerosene leaking from the tanker. The affected travelers will be taken to their destination by 9H-EUT, but the departure will be delayed by at least two hours.

Fortunately, such incidents are rare, but they are certainly dangerous because kerosene is flammable and, given the obviously considerable amount that leaked from the damaged tanker, the airport fire department first has to bind up or remove the fuel. As a purely precautionary measure, fire engines are also kept on standby.

The following video was recorded by an eyewitness at the scene:
