The Canadian airline Westjet will in future offer all long-haul connections from Calgary. This is part of the changed strategy, because instead of decentralized hubs, the future focus will be on a central hub in the city mentioned.
Most recently, Vancouver-London Gatwick was in the portfolio. This route has been abandoned or moved to Calgary. British Airways will effectively take over this route in May 2023. Westjet will focus on a central hub on long-haul routes.
The change was announced by Westjet some time ago and was gradually implemented. The carrier’s reservation system says they no longer offer long-haul flights outside of Calgary.
