In the coming winter season, which begins on Sunday and lasts until the end of March 2025, Wizz Air, British Airways and Austrian Airlines will significantly reduce the available capacities in the markets in the former Yugoslavia.
Wizz Air is forced to cut over 310,000 seats due to Pratt & Whitney engine defects, representing a 14.1% deviation in total capacity and a 7.7% reduction in flights. Most of the cuts affect Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia.
British Airways has already suspended service between London Heathrow and Belgrade and will also suspend flights between London and Ljubljana. This results in a 66.3% loss of capacity and 54,974 fewer available seats. The only remaining connection in the region is Zagreb.
Austrian Airlines will also reduce the frequencies of its flights to Zagreb and reduce capacity by using smaller aircraft. In total, the airline will cut 25,000 seats in the region, although there will also be a slight increase in flights to Belgrade, Skopje and Pristina. The local portal Ex-Yu-Aviation.com first reported on the changes.
